Neil Cartwright, as part of the Million Academy, will be presenting ‘Future Trends’ in Fort Willliam on Tuesday 30th. The West Highlands of Scotland, due to their physical geography, are only now getting access to fast broadband. The regional development agency has asked me to present to the local creative community to give them a sense of how media and entertainment are changing as a result of fast internet access.
Areas covered will include the music industry’s reliance on albums despite the public shift to the ‘Shuffle’ mode of music listening. Plus taking a look at YouTube and the rise of games with the opportunities tha arise. The world’s most successful game, Grand Theft Auto, is produced in Scotland so should have particular resonance for designers in the area.
